ELA MCAS March 23-25 2010
Students in grade seven will take the Long Composition portion of the ELA MCAS exam on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
Students in grades six, seven and eight will take the Reading Comprehesion portion of the exam on Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 25.
Students in grade seven are asked to bring a nut-free snack on March 23 as they will have break in their testing sites due to the double testing session on that day. To avoid allergy concerns, the middle school is requesting that all studens bring a nut-free snack and use a wipe provided by the school to clean their desks during the break period. This applies only to the grade seven students on March 23. The remainder of the testing days contain only one test session, with break being held in the cafeteria as usual.

Flu Symptom Check List for Families and Schools
As cold and flu season approach please, for the health of the entire school community, keep your child home if she/he is ill. Also, be mindful that we do have students and staff in the building who have compromised immune systems for various reasons and are extremely susceptible to infection. With a compromised immune system a cold or the flu may easily become life threatening.
Please help us to keep everyone healthy by reinforcing with your child:
1. That good and frequent hand washing is essential to good health.
2. To keep his/her hands away from their mouth, nose and eyes as these are ports of entry for germs.
3. That when coughing or sneezing to cover their mouths with a tissue or cough/sneeze into their elbow, followed by good hand washing.
4. To NOT share drinks or food with friends.
5. To try to avoid contact with sick people.
6. If he/she are sick with flu like symptoms (FEVER and cough or sore throat) to stay home. They are not to return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT the assistance of fever reducing medication.
When your child is going to be out ill, please call the middle school office (781) 383-4205 or the school nurse (781) 383-0853. We would appreciate it if you would indicate if they have been diagnosed with the flu or are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
